Who We Are

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer and the Word of God, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

Every day at thousands of community centers, high schools, middle schools, juvenile institutions, coffee shops, and local hangouts, YFC staff and volunteers meet with young people who need Jesus. We are rural and urban and we are always about the message of Jesus.

Our History

Central Maryland Youth For Christ was started in 1988 when Arn Bjorndal first took teens to a summer youth evangelism conference called DC '88.  A Campus Life club started that year in the Linganore area.  A few years later, another Campus Life club started in Frederick, reaching students from Gov. Thomas Johnson and Frederick high schools.  We motivated and equipped our Campus Life students to start student-led Bible clubs on their campuses.  In ensuing years we added Campus Life M clubs in various locations around Frederick County (including Brunswick, Middletown and New Market) and also started a Teen Parents ministry in Frederick.  Then we noticed a need to reach deaf teens in our community, so we launched a Deaf Teen Quest Club that ministered to the students at Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick.  We later expanded our ministry to include Washington County.  Our ministry locations in Frederick and Washington counties are constantly adapting to the needs of our community according to our staff and volunteer strength. We have ministered to thousands of teens and young people over the last 25+ years and, with God's strength and grace, we look forward to reaching many more teens with the love of Christ!
